Dictionary of Known Space terms

The White Road Galaxy: The galaxy in which Known Space resides

Known Space: A general term refering to all space currently registered under the 4 quandrants exploration treaty.

NSAQ (North Space Army Quandrant): Either refering to the northern quadrant of space or the military dictatorship which presides there. North Space is led by it's army, NSAQ, which is currently headed by Supreme Commander Gen Kair. NSAQ is an orderly quandrant which prospers under it's dictator's rule. Violence and criminal activity are kept in check, and it is considered the safest place to live in Known Space.

South Space (Monarchy of Tansin): The southern quandrant of Known Space, a dictatorship under the Inherent Lord Tansin, simply refered to as South Space. While not as well kept as North Space, South Space is consider to be a good place to live, as it's leader believes in a peace and tranquility.

West Side (West Space): West Side is the west quadrant of Known Space, and is the richest of the four quadrants. It is also the least safe to live in. West Side is a Democracy which is, interestingly, currently run by another Inherent, President Qewks Grey. President Grey, despite being an Inherent, seems to have come out of nowhere and taken the quadrant in a vice grip, making him essentially the equivalent of a dictator. He is considered to be a shrewd businessman, and has helped his quandrant prosper in terms of monetary value. Qewks is currently in a trade dispute with Eckrij Vigrots of East Space.

Altory A Vigrots (East Space): East Space is named after whomever is currently ruler there, in this case, Eckrij Vigrots. In stark contrast to his West Space counterpart, Eckrij Vigrots believes heavily in religion and principles, abhoring business. Eckrij is a strict follower of the Saprien religion.

The Saprien Religion: A strangly widespread religion with questionable origins. Nearly 90% of Known Space follow this religion, but there is only so much known about it. It centers around the omnipotent being Saprien who created the gods but who's soul was ripped into pieces by one of her gods, Embryn. Her souls was then split amongst 3 "Inherent".

The Inherent: Those who have supposedly inhereted Saprien's split soul. They are Tropes Tansin, Qewks Grey, and Eckrij Vigrots. Interestingly, each Inherent is currently in a seat of power in Known Space.

Typing Theory and System: It's theorized that once every thousand years or so two species that had discovered interstellar travel would be capable of interbreeding. Over millions of years this slowly elliminated the vast majority of the original species, only leaving the current "Types", humanoid creatures with a variety of different traits. This is disputed as it seems impossible that there would be enough similar species for this to occur.

Types:

Geades: One whom is most proficient (or only proficient) on the land.

Aquira: One whom is most proficient (or additionally proficient) in the water.

Aerif: One whom is most proficient (or additionally proficient) in the air.

Hyperspace Transport System: The current method for interstellar travel till wormholes are developed and mainstreamed. A ship is encased in a capsul filled with Slow Time, and sent through a tunnel of Speed Time to it's next destination.

Slow/Speed Time: The time between 0 and 1 second is either extended or shortened.

Capturit: A prominent space-to-planet landing system. Uses magnetic push and pull to bring a ship into dock safely and securely.

Clery Reentry System: A less prominent system of space-to-planet landing, due to it's bulkyness, is never-the-less safer. Also uses magnetism but places it within a large shaft that the ship must fly into.
